About Storage Price Index
About Storage Price Index
Storage Price Index reads the prices self-storage operators publish on their own websites and puts them side by side, so a renter can see what the same unit costs at different locations before they book.
What this is
Storage is priced like hotel rooms: every branch sets its own rate against its own occupancy, and the same 10×10 can cost two or three times as much a short drive away. Operators publish every one of those prices and never show them next to each other. This site does. Every figure is read from an operator's own published listing, dated, and shown with a plain statement of where it came from.
What it is not
It is not a booking site, and it earns nothing from any rental. It does not take payment, create accounts, or store anything about the people who visit. It is independent research and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any storage operator.
How the numbers are made
The full method — how prices are collected, how locations are grouped into markets, what is excluded and what the figures cannot tell you — is written up on the methodology page. Prices change with availability; always confirm the current rate with the facility before renting.
