Storage Price Index

26 states

Storage prices by state

How each state compares on a 10×10, and which of its markets is cheapest.

What the table says

State medians run from $55 in Georgia to $159 in New York — 2.9× across 26 states, with 9 of them inside a tenth of the middle. That clustering is the point: choosing a state is not how anyone saves money on storage.

The gap inside one state is wider than the gap between all of them. Florida runs $33 in Port Charlotte against $201 in Boca Raton — 6.1×, against 2.9× between the cheapest and dearest state medians. A reader picking a state has narrowed almost nothing; picking a market, and then a branch inside it, is where the money is.
